Money shops are integral to the conduit for thais here. Many do not rely on banking system for practical reasons. For 1, regular banking complicates their lives (for whatever their income's worth). Even so, prohibitive bank charges vs amounts handled (not cost worthwhile). Also, bank transfers can take almost 1 working week due to banking/forex system. So relative to individual amounts handled, credit to beneficiary within 24hrs is an easy fix.

GM's a convergence venue for both thais and rest here who have affiliations to LOS 1 way or another -food, discos, buses whatever. So fits the bill, no different from Lucky Plaza's pinoy money shops (another major share of export GDP).

In thailand, these singers just only need to sing on the stage and do not need to entertain customers in the pub like karaoke hostess. In singapore, they have to entertain, all for the sake of more lady drinks, more flowers.

Those who think that by hanging hundreds and thousands on that one singer you really like can impress them, wrong wrong wrong. All these go to the whole performing entourage and shared between them. Of course the one that garners the flower get that little wee bit of percentage extra.

They meet up at nights to discuss who and who to 'attack' which and which customer. So an entourage of 5 singers normally have different duties and different customers to cover. There was this incident where I discovered one of the singer getting money, gifts from various customers to feed her real boyfriend who is also a singer. And of course they wouldn't tell people about it, because telling people about it, break their ricebowl.

nicely archived. at the end of the day.... all in the name of entertainment biz. cant expect the coyotes & singers to be sucking up to the patron, without any agenda.

bottomline, life is short, all possessions & achievements are finite.... we're born empty handed, whatever we strive hard to posses in this lifetime cannot be brought with us when we go.... live & let live. enjoy the process... is good enough.
