For my groups, we don't have such practices on room sharing or on-dutch system. We take turns to buy. Frankly, I never mind at all if certain bro(s) are broke cos we are bros regardless of who you are. However, I be the 1st person to kick free loader or calculative nuts out of my group whenever I spot them. I am very vocal when comes to take a stand

Anyway, often being invited by strangers but I make it a point not to talk to their meimeis out of due respect. Also I will buy them drinks as a friendly gesture.
I do encountered such "uninvited" characters before. One such incident was this guy and his PRC meimei was arguging and sat at our table, self helping themselves to our bottles, I signalled to the service staff to shove them away.
Another incident was this few guys from other table were friends of someone I know when cheonging. Not really a bro/friend, just Hi/Bye type. After their friend left, they and their meimeis joined our table uninvited and self-helped themselvesl to bottles and also making fresh bottle order! I told my bros that I settled our bill-only quietly and we will leave the joint 1-1 to upper level.

Our respective groups often shared a common bottle's name tag on bottles. Whoever is around the joint, just help themselves or top-ups the bottles as and when required There is even this bro, has 2 service apartments for his corporate guest and if not in use, we can "book" the apartment for own use or crash out during weekends.
Comes to cheonging, we need to be selective on new members coming into our groups mindful of ruining the harmony of existing bros/friends.

My advice is better stick with your usual cheong buddies. Like myself, sometimes left office in wee hours and too late (early) to gather any groups, I will cheong alone in my regular joints knowing that I will sure know people there. Normally I will bring out my bottle or they are beer drinkers, I will order fresh rounds for the tables.
