some info to share...

I just heard a few days ago that a new type of crime has surfaced in town. It goes something like this:- Somebody slips a handphone into your pocket. sometimes it could be just a wallet with an identity card and a few ringgits. A few minutes later, the 'owner' comes up and confronts you, the 'thief '. He makes a big commotion that you stole his stuff. You, caught unaware, are then pulled aside by the 'owner' for a settlement you are intimidated and threatened that if you do not pay up the police will be brought in. If you pay up, this 'owner' lets you go. If not, the police are brought in.

Another strange thing is that there always seems to be a 'witness' to the your 'theft'. I am told this often happens to foreigners at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or even at LRT trains. Given that you're 'guilty until proven innocent' as far as the Malaysian police are concerned, I understand some poor people are in jail for these 'offences'.

At the KLIA, the 'owner' throws his handphone and wallet with the few ringgit notes into the luggage trolley of a just arrived passenger. The drama unfolds a few minutes later. The real culprit has easily convinced our Malaysian police to arrest the real victim (if he has not paid up the 'settlement' demand). This is a very serious matter.

This is another form of extortionists perating in broad daylight. They are disgusting criminals who will do anything to rob and steal. The sickening part of the whole scenario is that unless you pay the "settlement" money, they will put you in real trouble by calling the police. The real culprit gets back his handphone and wallet but the real victim (i.e. could be any one of us) is thrown into the police lock up and charged in court.

So do be very careful, otherwise you may end up as a "thief" as you have no way to prove your innocence.

thanks for the warning especially to visitors but they will never get the police involved unless it is a one off robberry as they are likely to be operating in the same area more than once. It is merely a scare tactic. If you find a handphone in your pocket, take out the sim card and keep it!

That way you can insist that the phone is yours and there's no way they can confront u. In fact, if they confront you you can reverse the confrontation demand them to pay you the settlement. All it takes is a bit of quick thinking and a lot of shouting, they won't wanna cause a commotion and only look for quiet and easy preys.

Thanks for the warning, always sad heard ppls make money this way. Like few days ago heard another sad story from a PRC FL, 1 customer stole her money after the session when she was in bathroom... really this world every kind of ppls oso got.

Saw newspaper today saying a hotel in Subang Jaya was raided. Caught a Datuk in there.

Bro The Force... got a lot of scams now going... even in the airport to target new visitors to the country... best be aware of your surroundings, never give in to their threats, like bro TD say, they will never actually make a police report cos they are gonna do it again and again and they can't tell the cops that they get robbed 10 times a day... about the people who steal from WL's, happened in KL and SG... got bast**** everywhere in the world.. hope they get their just desserts for their farked up behavior.

Datuk left red-faced by raid

PETALING JAYA: A raid by anti-vice policemen at a spa and karaoke outlet in a hotel in Subang Jaya left a politician Datuk rather red-faced.

The Datuk was in the spa when four officers and 23 men from Bukit Aman's anti-vice and gambling division arrived at 10pm.

It is believed that the Datuk left through a back door to avoid being photographed by the press.

A police spokesman said 30 foreign women, aged between 18 an 30, who were suspected of being involved in prostitution, were detained for questioning. Two women believed to be their pimps were also detained.

Police also questioned 43 customers and 36 workers.

My FR on De Swan singing lounge :-

Went there a week ago with some friends from East Malaysia as I just joined them for some drinks. The lounge deco and RRO really looks like what you find in the 1950s, all the songs sung by the singers were really old chinese songs. The singers comprised of mainly mid20-30s PRC girls and some locals. At the front there is a singing/performance stage and a dance area where couples do ballroom dancing. Since my friends don't like nasi lemak, there were not many choices of locations other than this place so I was stuck there.

Each of them invited a prc girl over to sit with them, at the most I'd give them 6/10 in terms of looks and their 1950s wedding gown lookalike dresses didn't help. The damage :-

Lady drink :- approx RM15
Red Sash :- RM100
Black Sash :- RM300
Crown :- RM1000
Booking (before 12am) :- RM1000
Booking (after 12am) :- RM500

I must say this place is DAMN expensive. Some old uncles actually tipped the singers by buying tens of thousands of dollars worth of sash and crowns and this is WITHOUT any action. One of my friend is a 1st timer to these sorta place and he was swept by one of the prc singers. Paid RM500+ for the 1st night (drinks+sash),purchased RM1000+ handphone as a gift and another RM500+ for the 2nd night drinks and sash. At the end of the 2nd night when he asked the girl to follow him back to the hotel, the girl gave excuses that they have to stay back late and got spot check by the bosses..ekeke so RM2000+ without any action I'd say this place is really one of a kind!

Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Noh Omar said today he was shocked by rumours that he had been arrested in a police raid.

He was responding to an Utusan Malaysia report today that police had denied that Noh was arrested in a raid at a hotel in Subang Jaya on Thursday night.

Subang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhd Fuad Talib was quoted as saying speculation that Noh had been arrested was baseless.

"On that night I was in Kluang, Johor attending to various programmes," Noh said in a statement.

Among the events Noh said he attended were prayers at the Kluang Prison mosque with Prisons Department officials from 7pm to 9.30pm and a dialogue with more than 60 Johor Umno state and division leaders at the home of Kluang Wanita Umno chief Senator Syarifah Azizah Syed Zin from 9.30pm.

Noh said he had stayed the night at the Prime Hotel in Kluang and attended the Southern Territory Prison Wardens march at the Kluang Prison the next morning.

"Therefore, the rumours about me are not true. I am deeply disappointed with several local dailies that ran articles that said a politician Datuk was arrested in a police raid without first confirming the facts and if the incident really took place," he said.

It was reported that a Datuk was among 43 patrons caught in a vice raid at the spa and karaoke outlet of a five-star hotel in Subang Jaya on Thursday.

The Datuk was released along with other patrons after their statements were recorded.

Prisons secretariat unit head Supri Hashim confirmed that Noh was in Kluang on the night of Dec 29.
