Just a bit of an update.

My girl finally contacted me just before the start of the weekend. She said she accompanied her mum to the hospital for an op last week and couldn't use the phone when in the hospital (yeah right).

When I finally heard her voice over the phone, I blurted out that I will come over to see her to which she said ok. I actually made reservations on Silkair and room reservations at Hilton Hotel online. My plan was to fly in on the 16th, ie next Tuesday.

After making the reservations, I smsed her and asked her how was her mum doing and whether she wants me to bring anything over from here. Her reply was classic. She said if convenient, can I please bring her a handphone, a Nokia N95. No mention about her mum at all in her sms. While I have no doubt that her current phone is more suitable for display at a museum, I thought to myself, what the hack does she need a 3.5G handset with GPS, etc, etc. The network there cannot support most of the functions on that phone anyway. Besides, a new handset without contract will cost close to SGD1K.

Obviously I was a carrot head in the making.

After that she asked me what is her 身份 when we meet up. My reply was 爱人. We exchanged a few more smses over the weekend but mainly light-hearted stuff.

Over the weekend, I contemplated very hard whether I should go over or not. Including the cost of the airfare and accommodation, plus the N95 and probably some pocket money for her, I am looking at spending close to SGD4K. I thought to myself if she really loved me, spending that sum of money was not an issue. Unfortunately, it was becoming clearer and clearer that my feelings for her were not reciprocated.

This afternoon, I went for a bonk at the place where we met. The girl I had today was from the same province as my girl. After the bonk, I had a chat with her and I asked her 3 questions;

Apart from the above, there are other issues and evidence which shows that my feelings for her are not reciprocated which I shall not delve into here.

Besides the kind bros here who highlighted to me that I am going nowhere with this girl, I had lunch with the OKT today as well. He too told me to forget about her and move on.

I actually brought my passport with me today with the intention of applying for a visa to go to China. Eventually I decided that I should not apply for the visa. I sent her an sms about an hour ago telling her that I have decided that going over to meet her was a wrong decision. I told her that I genuinely felt for her but this relationship is going nowhere, and I do not want to be unfair to her (yeah right) and carry on with this relationship. I have yet to receive any response from her.

To me, this is the break up sms. Over the weekend, I actually thought of going over to see her and end this face to face. Come to think of it, it would have been extremely difficult for me to do it in person. Besides, I really can't spare the time of 3 to 4 days away from the office. This is perhaps the best way out.

Now that I have done the Jerry Maquire thingy minus the sob sob part, I feel that the burden that was on my chest has been removed. Another baby step towards attaining nirvana.

Don't like that say lah bro... I will definitely call you guys when I need the emotional support. But for fighting my own demons, I must be able to do it myself.

I finally received an sms from her after about 2 hours. It was a short message where she asked me whether I think by not going over to see her this time round, would it solve the problem? What if she wants to see me again?

I replied after about half an hour saying asking her whether she thinks it is worth it for her to meet up again with a guy who cannot offer her a lifetime together.

And hour and a half has passed and I have yet to receive any further response from her.

I guess I will never know whether I meant anything to her apart from the financial assistance that I gave her. Bro, I have to gently remind you again that if you continue to harbour such "hope", the spark may revive and do you more harm again.
