genuine platonic friendships with women?

Hi edyta. I think there can be platonic friendships. But if you're asking if somebody may secretly wish for it to blossom to a non platonic one, then I would say the chance of absolute platonic would be rather rare. However, I think unless the female shows signs of wanting to change the dynamics of the relationship, I think some men will just continue it as a platonic enough friendship.

Can be made possible. Depends on what's the motive of the platonic relationship. It can also be that the guy wants a platonic relationship more than the woman especially if the man has a certain position and power in the society.

Some women cannot maintain a platonic relationship.

It is possible but perhaps uncommon. People are creatures of emotions so I guess sometimes the view on a relationship might change over time. But I think some people are rational in the sense that they do not step over certain boundaries and maintain the friendship at a platonic level.

i guess some men are not waiting for any signs but try their luck anyway. aft a few encounters, I find it hard to cont the friendship n honestly feel anything platonic about it. v awkward if he is already married.

haha fr what I have seen, men of power n status not necessarily that cautious. not sure abt women cannot maintain platonic friendship, haven't really know of any.maybe if the woman really fall for the man.

Hi Edyta,

Let me share a platonic friendship that I have maintained with a lady friend I had known for 17yr. We had know each other when she first started work in my contractor office. She is single when we met, but later married with 3kids now. She come over to work in my company for 5yrs. During these time, we go out lunch with boss and another colleague. Normally go to her to chat when I go back office. When she left for another company 3yrs ago, we still go lunch once a while till now.

During these 17yrs, we maintained as friends all these while. Nothing sexual till now even when she maintained a well figure after 3kids. So I can tell u is still possible to have a platonic friendship, but rare.

It's easy for men to have a platonic relationship with a woman if:

a) they find the woman fugly, or
b) can't bring themselves to propose sex, or
c) can't get the woman to spread her legs no matter how hard they try, or
d) so completely and utterly sexually repressed that they actually think they're okay being 'just friends',
e) castrated

Maybe women can, but for the average male (gay or straight), it's all about sowing ones seed.

I have a couple of female platonic friends. Known them for at least 15 years. No sexual feelings for them. Know them so well till if there is any chance for me to advance the relationship with them, I'd think twice, cos either it works out or you might lose a friend. That friendship is not what I am willing to risk.
