Bro, care to share in the end how was the this issue being resolved? And/or any outcome? There were a few posts in the older Batam thread that has similar case/s too. This type of case genuinely happens in Batam before (especially so around Hari Raya fasting season, which i noticed).

Recent years, there are a handful of whatsapp/wechat or online media scam reported here too.

Just wish to gather some info, no obligation to reply or share if uncomfortable (since you mention it is a ex. friend,hehehe...).
