Passengers probed for beating female employee at Hanoi airport
TUOI TRE NEWS UPDATED : 10/20/2016 10:37 GMT + 7 National carrier Vietnam Airlines has requested stern punishment for two passengers who assaulted a female employee at a major airport in Hanoi. Tran Duong Tung, 32, and Dao Vinh Thuan, 37, two passengers on flight VN7265 from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, were investigated for attacking Nguyen Le Quynh Anh, a Vietnam Airlines airport service deputy, at Noi Bai International Airport on Tuesday afternoon. According to security camera footage, Anh was restrained by one of the passengers while the other repeatedly hit her on the head with what appears to be a tablet. Two other male passengers were infuriated by the action and assaulted the two attackers, leading to a confrontation between the four men. Airport security officers arrived shortly after the incident, escorting the four individuals to their office at the airdrome. Police officers were asked to assist in the investigation amidst Tung and Thuan’s continued aggression and refusal to cooperate. According to the report, Anh and Ta Duc Giang, an airport supervisor who witnessed the entire incident, were monitoring security procedures on the second floor of Terminal T1 prior to the attack. The two employees approached Tung and Thuan in the security scanning area after the two passengers missed their flight. Following Giang and Anh’s explanation on how to resolve the problem, the two passengers continued to verbally abuse the staffers. Anh began filming the incident with her smartphone before being grabbed by Thuan and beaten by Tung, Giang recounted. Anh was later admitted to a local hospital for a health check, the airport supervisor added. During an interview with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, a representative from the Northern Airports Authority said the case was still being clarified. Meanwhile, Tran Dang Hai, chief inspector at the Hanoi Department of Transport, affirmed that he was verifying reports that Thuan is an inspector at the department.

Vietnamese singer banned from performing for exposing breasts
TUOI TRE NEWS UPDATED : 10/15/2016 15:02 GMT + 7 A young Vietnamese singer has been banned from performing in the northern province of Quang Ninh after having her breasts fully exposed during a recent show there. Linh Miu, or Vu Thuy Linh, was singing and dancing at a business fair in Quang Ninh, home to the famed Ha Long Bay, on Wednesday, when her skimpy dress slipped off, revealing her sensitive body parts. According to a video capturing the performance showed on YouTube, Linh Miu kept on her performance, apparently unaware of the fully exposed breasts. It was not until a few minutes later did the female singer, infamous for clips with skimpy dressings on YouTube, realize the incident and ‘corrected’ her outfit. After the incident, the Quang Ninh culture department decided to prohibit Linh Miu from further performance in the province. The department also requested the organizing board of the business fair to strictly supervise their entertaining activities, including performances and concerts.

Hoi An to issue tourist code of conduct
TUOI TRE NEWS UPDATED : 10/12/2016 14:06 GMT + 7 The administration of Hoi An, the popular tourist city in the central province of Quang Nam, is preparing a code of conduct for tourists, having previously issued a set of rules and recommendations to residents and vendors inside the famous ancient town. The code of conduct for residents and business owners in Hoi An Ancient Town, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999, has been promulgated via a leaflet distributed to local residents and vendors earlier this year. The document consists of a list of do’s and don’ts as well as various prohibitions for vendors and service providers. All are aimed at preserving the valuable architecture and culture of a busy regional trading port that dates back to the 15th century. For example, vendors inside the ancient town are advised to use environmentally friendly and traditional materials to decorate their place of business and to behave in a friendly and polite manner toward customers and tourists. Service providers should not occupy pavements or even the streets to display their goods, or use overly bright signs. As for the prohibitions, the city’s administration has banned all begging and dishonest business activities inside the ancient town. Hoi An authorities are also preparing a similar code of conduct for foreigners, at a time when some international visitors have behaved inappropriately at the World Heritage site. “Many tourists wear skimpy clothes when walking around the ancient town or even while visiting temples and pagodas,” Hoi An chairman Nguyen Van Dung told the local Quang Nam newspaper. Dung said such visitors will be reminded of the proper dress code at these attractions, as “Hoi An has to protect its culture rather than trade it purely for economic growth.” Quang Nam has reported an average growth in tourism numbers of 12 percent annually since 2000, according to Quang Nam newspaper. The central province welcomed 3.85 million visitors in 2015, and 3.3 million in the Jan-Sep period this year. Tourist arrivals in the nine month period rose 11 percent on a year earlier, adding some VND2.3 trillion ($102.68 million) into the province’s budget, according to the newspaper. The Hoi An administration is one step ahead of their superiors in provincial administration, as an official code of conduct for tourists at the province-level remains on paper only. “We have to wait for an amendment to the law on tourism to be released,” Dinh Hai, director of the provincial tourism department, said. Any regulations or sanctions to be established in the code of conduct must be in line with those of tourism law, which is being amended, he explained. “My stance is that we should not be hasty, but rather wait until the National Assembly approves the amended tourism law,” he said.
