Storm in a teacup. That's not what happened at all. Read the quotes as opposed to the journalist's interpretation.

Is this Good News for Liverpool
Just heard a news from radio just now that Rafa Benitez is luring Jaloen Lescott (Everton)to Liverpool. At the same time Rafa is also bidding for striker, Alfonso Alves (Brazilian Player) from the Dutch League team. He is a top scorer now in that league. Look like Rafa is serious to land the English Premier League Title to lad these 2 international player..
If he is bidding for Joleon Lescott as long term replacemnt for Steve Finnan? If Alfonso Alves arrive, Liverpool will then have 5 strikers. Then one striker will give way. WHo will that be? Torres place look secured, but mayb not so for Dirk Kuyt or Veronin yet. But recently Peter Crouch seem to drop down the pecking order, may Crouch will be sold since many teamns are interested, like Manchester City, Spurs, Pompeys, Aston Villa etc. Look like Liverpool is willing to sell Scott Carson (10m), Crouch (10m)...mayb Malian's Momo Sisoko (8m) to fund this new purchase since the new owners are not so willing to fund new players. Mascherano alone will cost 18m pounds, waiting for the new owners new funds,... |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Benitez is frustrated that there has been no significant progress in his effort to sign Javier Mascherano on a permanent deal before his loan spell expires at the end of the season, a transfer that would cost Liverpool £17million.
The manager has also been unable to press on with his attempts to reinforce his squad in the forthcoming transfer window, with £10m-rated Racing Santander defender Ezequiel Garay and Heerenveen’s £8m striker Afonso Alves high on the wanted list. Indeed, there is a growing belief that Benitez may have to sell before he can buy in January, with Peter Crouch, John Arne Riise and Momo Sissoko already attracting attention from potential suitors. |

Tom Hicks tells Rafa Benitez: Quit talking
Tom Hicks tells Rafa Benitez: Quit talking and coach the players
Nov 23 2007; EXCLUSIVE by Tony Barrett, Liverpool Echo LIVERPOOL co-owner Tom Hicks today ordered Rafa Benitez to “quit talking about new players and coach the players we have”. In an angry rebuke to the Reds boss who launched a cryptic attack on the club owners yesterday, Hicks made it clear the club will not even consider any demands from Benitez until mid-December at the earliest. At yesterday’s weekly Melwood press conference, Benitez admitted he was frustrated with life at Anfield and continually told reporters that he wished only to concentrate on coaching and training his team. His repeated comments have been taken as a thinly veiled attack on Hicks and George Gillett – who recently told Benitez to forget about transfers for the time being and to focus only on the players he already has at his disposal. In an exclusive interview with the ECHO today, Dallas-based Hicks responded to Benitez’s comments by defending the level of financial support he has afforded the manager and insisting the time has come for the Spaniard to do his talking on the pitch. He said: “After the Champions League final in Athens, Rafa made certain demands of us and we responded to those demands in the summer. “We brought in some good players and spent more money than has ever been spent before at this club. “We now have some crucial games coming up in the Premier League and the Champions League and we want to see if we can win these games with the players we have. “This was the message we gave to Rafa recently and I think during the international break he must have grown a bit frustrated about this. “We told him to concentrate on the games coming up and nothing else and I guess he didn’t like that. “But, for the time being, we just need to be focused on what happens on the pitch. “George and I will be over in mid-December and that is the time to talk about other issues. It is really time for Rafa to quit talking about new players and to coach the players we have.” Sources close to the Americans admit they are concerned with the present climate but hope to see harmony in relations restored quickly. tonybarrett@liverpoolecho.co.uk http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0...name_page.html |

Most likely Robo-Crouch will be leaving us as his relationship with the boss is not going well. Crouch likes to speak his mind and boss doesn't like to be told what to do..... Boss mantra : "I'm the boss, I say, U do !!" |

Seem like that Crouchie and Momo are the lads going to be sold in the January transfer window.
Plenty of buyers queuing up for these 2, time to cash in and buy more quality players. Like the saying goes, the ball is round. |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
I for one will NOT be upset if Rafa leaves. Honestly, i dun tink he's gonna achieve any more than he already has. Certainly not gonna get the title this year. Last year, home form good, away bad, this year its the other way around. sigh, we solve one problem to replace it with another so in the end we are always back to square one.
Dun know why rafa wants to buy more players. He already rotates so often. With new players coming in, rotation will increase even more than ever. Whenever i see team lineups, we have just about the best around yet we re doing so poorly. When u look at arsenal, man to man, we should be superior but we're not hence i tinkH&G are right to say rafa should spend more time *coaching* the team, not buying his way to success, we're not chealski (nor do i want us to be)... Look at sven and wat he is achieving at Man City with a fraction of the transfer budget that rafa has! That's wat i call a brilliant mgr (serves the English right for pushing him out and not qualifying for Euro 08). I'm sick of rafa's rotations and excuses....next!! |
