I am not sure if you're really an innocent newbie but I'll spend some effort to give you my 2 cents worth of reply.

Firstly in Sg the words "Call girl" is seldom used. In Europe/US when print media became popular, girls/agents used Newspapers to put up small advertisements promoting their service & where there was a number to call. Hence the name "Call Girls".

Later this concept continued in other forms e.g. sticking little pull me notes with numbers in telephone booths, pamphlets, magazine adverts and then onto to the internet as well.

In Singapore, they are called working girls or WL. Usually the girls are from Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand or China. The places that have these girls e.g. Pubs in Joo Chiat, pubs in Geylang, KTV's in Joo Chiat, Geylang, City area, some hotels, Chinatown, Orchard area, Boat Quay, Selegie, Duxton, Jurong etc., there are no "good girls". There are only working girls & all are working girls. So every female you see in these establishments(except waitresses & service crew) is a working girl willing to accompany you for a drink and chat or even ECA later on. So if you go to the right pub/KTV there is no confusion. No need to worry about getting slapped. Also in all these places the girls make the first move. You will see them coming to you, giving you eye signals or even saying " Khe yi cho mah ?". Those with mummy, she'll facilitate a lineup and you get to choose. Again no confusion and very clear.

The clean places e.g. Discos like Zouk, Panagea, Butter Factory, Avatar, Powerhouse, Shanghai Dolly, Double O etc. are totally clean. So there is no chance of a working girl being there. Even if they are, they are, they are probably working in another place and just out to drink & have fun with their temp boyfriend. You should never assume any girl in these places is a WL. Other pubs like those in Dempsey Hill, Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Robertson Quay etc are also 100% clean.

Lastly besides "Clean" and "totally unclean" there are some grey areas. One example is Thai discos. The Thai discos like Neverland, TD2 in Golden Mile, Club Ratchda in Cairnhill, Nana in Robertson Quay etc. has a mix of Thai or Taiwanese dancers who are totally clean good girls just here to dance & earn a salary. Same goes for Thai singers of the band. But there may be some coyotes who are actually freelancers and don't have salary from the pub. They often dance when the band takes a break & urge you to buy tequila shots for them or hang flowers. They drink, play dice, hug, kiss & sometimes do go out with customer after work that very night or another day if contact numbers are exchanged at the discos during the time you spent with her. Anyway there is no confusion here as well since the coyotes will make the first move and approach you. So you know who's a WL & who's not.
For Massage Parlours, you have to use your senses to tell clean & unclean. If the entry fee is low e.g. $30+ , the place is small with partitions and run by a china lady, it 99% an unclean joint. Else you can assume clean.

Lastly there are a couple of more exceptions. Chijmes is a totally clean place but Insomnia on Level 2 has some WL's hanging around fishing for customers. Similarly a very upscale disco called Brix in Scotts Road has some Vietnamese WL's inside as well.

As a conclusion letting the girl approach you is the safest approach.
