I have given some thoughts on the situations like :

1. Will the ferry terminal at Harbour front be crowded with Batamese going back for the Election?

2. Will Taxi drivers and ojeks there be any lesser due to the indo GE?

3. Will the girls in joints be having off day after they cast their votes?

4. Will most joints,shopping malls and shops be closed on that day?or even half day closure?

5. Will there be lesser tourists & more Batamese?

6. Is it a public holiday in indo during their GE?

Sorry for the ignorant questions above,it's just something that cross my mind.

Hmm. Good Questions, if i was you, i wouldn't risk it, i will go on 10th April, but if u have bought the Ferry ticket, then bo bian liao, cross your finger and hope that these ceweks will return to work after the election. Maybe some Senior Bros here can shed some light?

If i go batam during good Friday and weekend.if I have not book hotel, do you think I can get one at Batam, prefer 3 to 4 star hotel. This is last min if my work can complete and I plan to explore again in batam. Secondly, just check is there any pub with live band that not so expensive so that I can drink without worry about the bill hitting storey high. Not that I am cheap Charlie, because when I drink I drink maximum to enjoy, not control the budget. We going with few of kakis, but some of them got budget restrain. So if it cheap I will folk out the bills on my account. Btw senior bro or veteran bro been out batam for years, some may have recieved purple heart, I just like to check, for us the newbies, can you help us by separating, massage or the joint by the closer prominent icon, example DC Mall, what massage or joint can be found there or farmosa hotel, what joint and massage located ard the area. Thank you bro for yr advise. Currently being new in Batam,i am only making my move on pros. i don't wear a watch. According to my last 2 trips,i think Batam food and shopping about same as Malaysia,but the Pros appears to be cheaper. And as for safety,touch wood...in both Malaysia & Indo,i haven't kena anything regarding safety issue,so i can't reli comment. Hope it will never happen to myself and anyone else.

Thank you bro...i haven't bought anything yet. Usually i will go Habour Front direct to buy the tickets or book tickets from Prima Ferries online,that one no need pay money 1st. I won't be planning to book hotel in advance too,will likely to book from Kaha when i am there if i can find it,otherwise if anything crops up i will just walk in to formosa and bargain with them. I'm kind of sure most of the receptionist there remembers me becos of something i did.(i don't tip them tho)

I am likely to postpone my trip to Batam till next following week to 15th Apr,like that i will have the flexibility of being there on weekdays and the choice of 2D1N or 3D2N at my discreet.

Drinking in Batam foodcourts is cheap. Beers cost about 30K rupaih per bottle, which is about 4 in singapore dollars. Karoke singing and music is nightly event. Try windsor foodcourt. There is Permah Indah there which is a KTV cum Pick up joint. Ricson massage is there opposite to it, and there is a budget hotel, newly opened next to it. Cant remember the name .

If you fancy better pubs and drinking with selection, try the ones in Harbour Bay. There are a few hotels, there, NINE DAYS HOTEL( budget), ARMIN(more expensive), and Swiss bethel( top hotel in batam). Pubs wise, there is Ocean, and a few theme pubs further away from the carpark. THere is also alot seafood and drinking of beers in that place also.

If you want higher class settings with singing and bands, and better wines and liquerers, try Harmoni Hotel lobby,
