IMO, objectively, Rio is a good defender but horribly overpriced and overpaid. I have not seen him bring the ball out of defence and score like Agger did.

Anyway this thing about classy defenders is over-rated. If forwards can lose the ball in attack, you can be sure a defender with the best ball skills will lose it 80% of the time. I'd much prefer a solid defender who reads the game well and is no-nonsense.

u r kind, i dont really think he is a good defender, thus my gripe. in my humble opinion, no nonsense defenders r the best defenders thus sol campbell is the best one i have seen in recent times. carra cant compare to him cos sometimes, carra is also prone to being a kan-cheong spider... but carra's loyalty and his commitment to pool, almost unparalleled.

i have seen many times how an extremely fit team run a supposed skilled team to the ground. not pretty, but damn inspiring. talent is god-given. but if one doesnt work hard to improve other aspects, then they deserve to go back to being pizza delivery boys.

have been waiting for those new signings too, reported tat one of the owner mentioned there will be signings in the coming week, really can't wait to see who is the first to come in.

Ya, I read that report too. He said next week. Carra and Gerrard agreed to extend their contracts verbally before the Champions League final. They only got to sign it 2 days ago as the lawyers need time to prepare the contract.

Perhaps the legal stuff is causing the delay in new signings. and the owner can forsee that the contracts will be ready by next week. Think it's going to be Simao and Malouda. I hope we sign John Carew though. for a big forward, he's got skills and pace. Crouch don't have pace...

I know! It's ridiculous that we've not even announced one! And Chelski now seems interested in Alves. Won't come as a surprise if Rafa truly has enough of all the "talk" and move to Real. The Americans probably want a complete business plan and ROI on the signings before releasing the $$!!!

Liverpool management are drawing up a bid for AS Roma's exciting winger Amantino Mancini.
The Times says Mancini is the subject of serious discussion inside Anfield amid growing optimism that he can be lured to Merseyside.

The Brazilian, 27, has been a regular for Roma for the past four seasons and enhanced his reputation as one of the most skilful wingers in world football with a spectacular goal against Lyons in the last 16 of the Champions League in March. He prefers to operate on the right wing, but is also comfortable on the left-hand side.

Guys, everything takes time. We already have Lucas (which is a much better player than Man U new signing Anderson).

So far, there have been no BIG name signings. These take time. I doubt Chelski will sign another winger. If they want to, they will have to sell to make the money available. Open checkbook era is over.

Mancini, Milito, Eto, Alves, Simao... these would be GREAT additionals

agreed with u bro, everything will take time, and it also take time to find out if those new players signed can make it in EPL.

either 2 of the 3 wingers mentioned signed should be good, isnt it.
