Even then, to bring down the price of 1jt to 800k, and that include taxi driver's commission, is really unbelievable. Sorry folks, you can see that I'm very excited with my latest find.. I still hate myself for setting today's date for my company event, forgetting that I'm still in Batam.

At Sri Kandi, when we were there, we were quoted 1.3 juta, with taxi driver. This is from the non-Chinese speaking Mami. Only when we were leaving then she bring the price down to 1 juta. The moment I saw her in the shop (and not the Chinese-speaking Mami - 小微), I jitao xian 3/4. But, we were only there on Sunday which XW is normally on off. And, on Monday, we didn't managed to get passed the 1st joint and we booked our companion already.

The 1st quote to me was 800k,and "they" initially think i am the one wanting that "girl",hehehe...becos i insisted on seeing her to verify if its the same girl. Thats why i often say to many good friends who joined me in my trips,with or w/o taxi drivers,it doesnt really make a difference to me if i dont even bother to bargain.

Becos on the 1st day,we already clear practically ALL the booking joints in Batam with more than 10 girls. 2nd day we already have what we want in mind as we were suppose to bookmark at least 1 girl in any particular joint we went to the day before.

We should have about close to 5 bookmarked girls,almost one in every booking joint after minus-ing out those joints which has not-good-enough girls. So 2nd day is made much easier and direct.

Why don't you guys use your debit card to withdraw from ATM? Because you don't want to leave "traces" at home that you have been in Batam? At least, you have stamps on the passport, so it cannot be that case.

On Friday, the official exchange rate SGD/IDR was 9406,57 (source XE.COM).
Considering that Maestro (by Mastercard) applies a fee on the order of 1.25% on the official exchange rate (I may be wrong and it could be 1.5%), the actual exchange rate on withdrawals on Friday night using a Singaporean debit card would have been something like 9289 (warning: NOT using the credit function. It must be the debit function, that is Maestro or Cirrus).

I know one can get something more by hard negotiation, but the convenience of withdrawing from ATM is a value itself. It takes just 2 minutes and the rate is competitive (in the case you report, even better).

How to use the "debit" function?
Use a card with the Maestro logo, possibly avoid multifunction cards including also credit function (Mastercard, VISA, etc.). Then select "Withdraw" from "Savings".
