Sometimes the coaches and managers are crucial too...... Hodgson and KD had Meireles for awhile but did not know how to utilize him....... AVB knew Meireles inside out and used him effectively.

Suddenly Liverpool's right back position seems shortage of players.

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson will miss the next four to five weeks after aggravating a hamstring injury in the 1-0 defeat against Stoke on Saturday.

Johnson had been struggling with a hamstring strain sustained against Spanish side Valencia in pre-season and, although he only came off the bench in the 81st minute against Stoke, the full-back tweaked the injury.

Scans on Tuesday confirmed that he would miss at least a month of the season and he said on his Twitter account: "Can't believe my luck at the mo. Done my hamstring again. Hopefully be back soon.''

Liverpool travel to take on Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday also without England Under-21 right-back Martin Kelly, who has a hamstring strain.

Dun worry..... Liverpool has several players that can play there.
Carragher, Flanagan, Henderson (yes JH started out as a right back until they pushed him up to midfield in the U-18s)........ even Dirk Kuyt can play there.

our RB will be up against bale tis saturday, he's fast and like to just push the ball pass the defender then try to out run him. tat can draw a foul or card very easily if the defender is a fraction of second slower and put a leg across him and catch his leg...

i think carragher will struggle to keep up to his pace..
flanagan's inexperience was exposed against sunderland, and i think it may be a big risk to play him..
skrtel was played as RB last 2 matches, he may not be the fastest, but i guess he may just get the nod from dalglish..

theres problem everywhere in liverpool.......lack of depth is one.

depending too much from suarez is another. look wat happen last week when suarez fail to score...........they lose

But remember that Flanagan made his debut against City last season and did well against Milner and Johnson.

But yes probably Skrtel will get the nod.

I'm hoping Carra will be dropped - not to say I have lost faith in him but we have good competition now and Coates looks up to it.

Spurs are over whelming Liverpool in the 1st half, Liverpool need to re-group in the 2nd half & come up with something.

Draw is a very good result based on what I have seen.

But if can win better....
